E.A. : ZOETIS COMMERCIAL AGREEMENT – HENDRA FARCE 2015

In 2018 EA Board signed off on the financial sponsorship of pharmaceutical company Zoetis, despite legal action (class action) being taken against Zoetis by members of EA. Zoetis marketed an equine vaccination for the Hendra virus.

The agreement was terminated immediately following representations from the Branches resulting from grass roots members outcry. This issue has many twists and turns and did great damage, undermining grass roots members confidence in E.A.

The Hendra Debate is covered here

HORSE VACCINE CONTROVERSY HALTS DRUG COMPANY PARTNERSHIP- ABC.net

AND FROM EQUESTRIAN AUSTRALIA, INITIALLY...

"While Equestrian Australia's recent announcement has caused concern and questioning among some members, we can reassure you that this is not, in any way, a precursor to any form of compulsory medication." Posted 4 April 2018

WEBMASTERS COMMENT TO THE ABOVE - Postscript - no intention…? Until EA made vaccination compulsory to compete. Then had to withdraw the rule. Hmmm....Shades of there will be no G.S.T from P.M. Howard!

E.A. MEMBERS MOTION TO BAN MANDATORY HENDRA VACCINATION LOST!  2015

FEI WILL NOT MANDATE HENDRA VACCINATION FOR HORSES

HORSES SPORT

“The FEI has said it is not planning to mandate vaccination against the fatal Hendra virus, following outcry in Australia……. The sense remains on social media that EA consciously withheld information from the public about the FEI discussions, despite EA issuing four updates in the past week.”

Then a Hero Came Along TEMPORARILY!- Thank you Ricky MacMillan for making the trip O.S. to achieve this outcome for members. How the issue even got before an F.E.I. meeting remains a mystery. Could it be anything to do with an Australian Vet on one of their committees?

IS HISTORY REPEATING? WHY ARE WE SO SCEPTICAL?

ANOTHER COMMERCIAL FAUX PAS

Another E.A. faux pas occurred some time previous to the Zoetis drama when Branch members received what appeared to be a credit card that arrived un-asked for, with their membership renewal. Yet another E.A. partnership agreement that looked suspiciously like they had shared branch members details with a 3rd party. Due to members concern this 'partnership' ended unceremoniously.

EQUINECT – DISASTER 2012– GRANT BALDOCK- CONSTITUTION – DISTANCING GRASS ROOTS MEMBERS, BOARD MEMBER GRANTED MULTI-MILLION $ CONTRACT FOR SOFTWARE THAT WAS NEVER DELIVERED –

Equnect-Time-To-Reflect -By Berni Saunders

“EA awarded a huge contract for Equinect with NO tender. The successful company was owned by the then Vice-Chairperson of EA and this presented an impossible conflict of interest. With the benefit of hindsight, I was quite right to question the lack of due diligence as his project has cost members over a million dollars of monies which could have been spent on developing equestrian sport. The CEO has not delivered the transparent and accountable management that he promised in his first interview after being appointed to the role. He has NOT given truthful answers when I have interviewed him and I understand that other media have the same criticism. The press releases explaining how members would all be directed to the EA site through Horsezone are still on my files.”

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

HORSES MOUTH COMMENT- Apparently the E.A. Constitution didn't give the E.A. Board any pause for concern when awarding this software contract to a company connected to a board member!

From the EA CONSTITUTION-  25.2 Conflict of Interest

The big question is :

This type of behaviour contravenes the Corporations Act - Why hasn't it ever been reported to ASIC

Letter to E.A re various 2012 – un-answered
