 WEBSITE ADMINISTRATORS NOTES:

The information presented on these pages is research collated by a passionate horsewoman with a computer and an internet connection, she has no other veterinary, legal or scientific qualifications. It was initiated after numerous Facebook posts communicated that the Thoroughbred Racing Industry in Australia was moving towards making Hendra vaccinations mandatory in more situations / locations (e.g. Hunter Valley).

After witnessing the trauma that the virus and vaccination issues have wrought on the recreational /competitive equestrian community she felt that providing a cohesive research resource for thoroughbred racehorse owners and others would be in the best interest of the horses so that any personal decisions are made with the facts.

The topic of vaccinating horses with the Zoetis Equivac HeV vaccine is highly contentious and strong opinions either way have fractured the horse community in Australia, affected the horses, businesses clubs, individuals etc. Disagreement on this issue has damaged horse owners trust and confidence in their equestrian vets and created significant ill will between vets and their clients. Whilst there has been a plethora of information available on the internet it is not collated and a large proportion of Facebook information is transitory / hard to locate again.

The information presented on these pages is not comprehensive and is not the work / authored by myself. The sources are acknowledged via the web links to the original sites but I cannot verify the veracity of the information or the credentials of these authors.  Where a personal opinion / comment / anecdotal observations are made by myself they have been identified as such.

It must be noted that much of the information available on the web, including much of Queensland government information, and referenced here-in, is not up to date; many documents and pages are dated as far back as 2010.  In addition, scientific knowledge is always on the move, as is the virus, do your due diligence and research the most current information available. Whilst I have attempted to present balanced information / facts, readers are cautioned to do their own research and not rely on the information presented here.
